Researchers at the University of Manchester think that cancer may be a man made disease.  They base this opinion on their study of Egyptian mummies.  They reported that they only found cancer in a very small portion of the hundreds of mummies that were examined.

This may be a study that borders on the simplistic, but there may be an important truth discovered here.  But the researchers did histological studies of the mummies, and also did literary research to see if there was evidence of high rates of cancer.  They found that cancer was very uncommon in animals, non-human primates and early human remains.  It was also rare in fossils.  They also found that even when they found tumors, the vast majority of them were benign.  And when they found malignant tumors, the few that were found were in non-human primates.

This study tends to support the view that the Standard American Diet, or the modern diet, may have a major role to play in the epidemic rates of cancer incidence that we see today.  Another variable that may have an effect is the proliferation in the emission of industrial chemicals into the environment.  Now we all know that ‘correlation does not prove causation’, but we have not really heard about any viable models for cancer from established authorities.

Researcher have been feverishly attempting to demonstrate that cancer is caused by viruses and genetics.  But after spending many billions of dollars on these approaches, we are left with no breakthroughs, no cures, and no understanding.  The conventional cancer treatments (chemotherapy, radiation and surgery) are still touted as the best that modern medicine has to offer.  Most people understand that viruses cause only a very small proportion of cancers.

Unfortunately, some people are of the opinion that cancers have a genetic connection.  I have not seen any convincing evidence of this.  It doesn’t make sense that genetics would be a cause of cancer. Even  if you go along with this, it would have to be either diet or toxins that degrade the DNA replicating process because it is not normal for people to get cancer, but everybody that is alive has replicating DNA all of the time.

I suspect that the degradation of modern foods is a major cause of cancer. In the quest to improve shelf life of foods, manufacturers must adulterate or remove the live parts of foods. Unfortunately, these are the very elements of foods that make them healthy for us to eat. Without these elements, the food is technically no longer ‘food’, and is unsuitable to support healthy life.

Big Pharma and the big corporations do not want consumers to know this because it would destroy their profits if this information were widely known. Profits are more important to corporations than the negative effects on humans of consuming these unhealthy foods.  It is up to the individual to make better diet choices because the authorities and those who earn their profits from the modern foods will never tell you the truth about cancer, disease, or nutrition.
