Although many alternative cancer treatment proponents have known this for a long time, it has been shown that raw food diets are beneficial for cancer patients.  These foods are healthy and help the body to build and heal itself.  In addition to this, a diet of raw food excludes foods that are not healthy for the body, and that actually create more problems for a cancer patient.

There are three main elements of a raw food diet that benefit someone with a cancer diagnosis are:

  1. Raw foods are full of vitamins and minerals that are easily absorbed;
  2. Enzymes that facilitate healthy chemical reactions in the body, and also assist in getting rid of tumors; and,
  3. Antioxidants and Phytonutrients that are very beneficial and nutritious for the body.

Foods that are not a part of a raw food diet are actually not very good for the body. The best foods for a cancer patient (as well as for most people) is one that is high in raw foods.  The main foods that cancer patients should refrain from eating are:

  • Animal Products since most are contaminated with hormones, antibiotics, pesticides and other toxic chemicals.
  • Processed foods (virtually all) contain dyes, refined sugars (like HFCS) and flours, hydrogenated oils, preservatives, alcohol, coffee and various chemicals.
  • Cooked food toxins, of which the main categories are:
    1. Acrylamide-formed mostly by carbohydrates at high heat;
    2. AGEs-cooking fats and animal proteins;
    3. Heterocyclic Amines-from cooking muscle meats;
    4. Nitrosamines-from heating preservatives; and,
    5. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons-caused by incomplete combustion of carbon-containing fuels.

In short, there are a lot of positives to eating a raw food diet, and a lot of negatives associated with eating processed, unnatural, preserved foods.  Although the medical industry doesn’t seem to want to acknowledge it, proper nutrition is probably the most important factor related to optimum health. And most chronic diseases result from improper nutrition and diet.
