Although this is an orthodox chemotherapy treatment, it is substantial news, and I decided to speak about it nevertheless because of the high scrutiny under which Avastin (bevacizumab) has been subjected.  This substance already has approval for a variety of cancers, such as colon, brain, kidney, and lung cancers.

Bevacizumab (Avastin) works by blocking angiogenesis (i.e., the growth of new blood vessels that enable tumors to grow).  It is a humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). It was the first angiogenesis inhibitor available in the United States for clinical applications.  It received its first approval for cancer treatment in 2004 when used in combination with standard chemotherapy for metastatic colon cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. continue reading…

Dr Samuel S. Epstein, a world-renowned professor emeritus of Environmental and Occupational Medicine from the University of Illinois School of Public Health, wrote a scathing indictment of the orthodox cancer establishment.  He has written over 250 peer-reviewed journal articles and 20 books on medical topics.  He is one of the world’s leading critics of the cancer establishment with his insightful, highly documented analysis of the cancer industry.

In short, Epstein’s book (entitled NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE and AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY: Criminal Indifference to Cancer Prevention and Conflicts of Interest) states that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the American Cancer Society (ACS), as well as the cancer industry in general, are more focused on profits and maintaining the status quo of orthodox cancer treatments.  There has been no organizational focus on cancer prevention. I had to ask myself this question after reading a blog entry entitled The Cancer Cure THEY Don’t Want You to Know About, by a writer called Healthseeker. He spoke about apricot kernels and a substance called Xanthohumol as effective, non-toxic treatments for cancer.  He actually described cancer as the result of a deficiency of vitamin B-17 (also known as amygdalin, closely related to Laetrile).  Xanthohumol is an antioxidant that is derived from hops.  I don’t know much about it.

Although the article was not the best, I thought that the author gave someone enough information to stimulate readers to do some research to verify what he said.  I must admit that there were no references, no links, no substantiation of anything the author said in the article.  But that was not what really surprised me. continue reading…

Michael Douglas announced that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer.  He says that he has already started chemotherapy and radiation therapy.  On an interview with David Letterman, he also stated that he thought he had an 80% chance of recovery.  Although he sounded optimistic, I found that at one point in the interview, he said that he knew that the treatments would be hard & that his condition would get worse.  This is definitely how most cases go with conventional cancer treatments.  He did not look healthy to me.

I do wish him the best of luck with this, but the prognosis is not good.  Unfortunately, he has already decided to go with the highly toxic conventional cancer treatment regimen of chemotherapy and radiation.  Chemotherapy is essentially chemical warfare agent type substances.  I know that some people get better with chemotherapy, but I think that most of these cases could be termed Pyrrhic victories.  How much value is it if a patient gets the cancer to go into remission, and then has a ‘relapse’ to which she succumbs?  Even though there are people that benefit from chemotherapy and radiation, this is a small minority of cancer patients. continue reading…

I couldn’t contain myself after going to a blog that discusses cancer treatments. They were essentially talking negatively about homeopathic treatments for cancer in this blog post.  I found it interesting.  I am not sure about the effectiveness of homeopathy treatments for any disease.  Personally, I haven’t seen or found any evidence for the effectiveness of homeopathy.  It seemed to me to be an easy target for derision.  I noticed that they didn’t choose to discuss any more efficacious treatments, such as Laetrile/B-17, Hoxsey’s formula, Essiac, etc.

Brace yourself for a hard-hitting video that pulls no punches about the current state of cancer research and the cancer industry.  This is some great information that all cancer patients should be aware of, especially if you are considering utilizing conventional cancer treatments.  The cancer industry is huge, and generates in excess of approximately $200 billion per year worldwide.

In summary, the War on Cancer which was started by Nixon in 1972, is an utter failure.  We are constantly fed spin about how a cure for cancer is ‘just around the corner’.  This has been the war cry of the cancer establishment and the Medical Establishment for the last 50-100 years!  But not only is there no cure, but the expenses for cancer treatment have skyrocketed.  In fact, more people are dying of cancer, and people are getting cancer at increasingly younger ages. continue reading…

There is always a bunch of hoopla from Big Pharma and the Cancer Establishment about how much progress is being made in the fight against cancer.  But from what I can see, there is a never-ending parade of people coming down with it.  How much progress is really being made here?  Something just doesn’t seem right about this.

The latest celebrity who has been diagnosed with cancer (that I know of) is Martina Navratilova, the prolific tennis star.  She is said to have been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Now if former world-class athletes are coming down with cancer, what chance does an average person have? continue reading…

When dealing with cancer (or just about any other issue facing us today), one of the most important issues facing someone is the very foundation of the thinking related to the topic.  The underlying assumptions and framework of the paradigm are very powerful and determine the final outcome of all conclusions that can be reached.  In the same way that only apple trees can grow from apple seeds, a conclusion based in truth cannot be reached if the intellectual framework of the paradigm is faulty.

In my research on the topic, I see a feverish work level and voluminous amounts of research papers being published.  But I have not seen many (or any) studies that challenge the basic tenets of cancer that enable any breakthroughs to be made.  If the same level of thinking that have led us to the point we are at now is maintained, how will we ever get more effective results if we remain wedded to these concepts? continue reading…
