I had an interesting exchange with a person who, evidently, supports the establishment cancer industry position on cancer treatments, cancer cures, cancer research and related issues. I didn’t think that a comment I had made on the Huffington Post in response to another comment would have engendered such a response, but it did. I found it to be very illustrative of many of the things that I have discussed here on smashcancer.com.  But I also thought that by examining what was being said by this person, I could use it as a learning tool. I could see from our ‘dialogue’ that there was no point in trying to have a logical discussion of our points because this person basically had her mind made up.

I can understand how someone could, and would, believe the medical authorities. They’re the authorities! They are the ones that have all of the institutions, the schools, the degrees, the fellowships, the publications, the experts, and associated things. They are the ones that spend and/or expend the resources of time and money to study things like cancer, and they report their findings to us. They are people, and they and their family members suffer & die from cancer, just like everybody else does. So who in their right mind would question their dedication, their work, their never-ending quest to beat cancer? continue reading…

I had done a previous article on GM crops, and decided to do another, more in-depth review of this subject. Originally, I was going to cover possible links between genetically modified foods and cancer. But in the process of reviewing a PowerPoint presentation based on the award-winning movie, Seeds of Deception by GMO activist Jeffrey Smith, I was totally floored by the extent of the danger of genetically modified food elements. It is a literal Pandora’s Box of danger. Preliminary studies have linked GMO foods with cancer, degenerative diseases, birth defects, sterility, and other health conditions.

This is a video presentation given by Jeffrey Smith. It is entitled Don’t Put That in Your Mouth. It is a great video on the dangers of GM food. It is a little over an hour long, and is very informative. You really need to watch it.

A study in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) just found that drug research, even clinical trials that are sponsored by the federal government, is regularly suppressed. Researchers found that less than 50% of all NIH-funded research studies were published within two and a half years of the completion of the study. Incredibly, 33% of these studies were still not published after 4 years. The reason appears to be that the pharmaceutical companies did not like the data.

One example given in the study was the case with Avandia, a drug that was actually approved by the FDA. It was found in 2007 that it caused an increase in heart attacks and cardiovascular disease related deaths. Aspartame is one of the most widely used artificial sweeteners in the world. It is added to approximately 6,000 consumer foods, beverages, chewable vitamin supplements, laxatives, milk drinks, pharmaceutical drugs and supplements, shake mixes, teas, instant coffees, wine coolers, condiments, etc.  It is also sold under the trade names Equal, NutraSweet, and Canderel.  It was originally produced by G.D. Searle, but this company was purchased by Monsanto in 1984.

The dangers of aspartame use has been a very contentious issue. The FDA, and other large corporations and regulators have claimed that aspartame is a harmless chemical. But others have argued that aspartame is very dangerous.  After a careful examination of the evidence, it would appear that aspartame is harmful.  This is in addition to the controversy surrounding the scientific studies that were used to justify the approval of aspartame for human consumption.

This was announced a while back, but it is very relevant to people with children, especially those in states that have mandated that teenage girls receive this vaccine.  SANE Vax Inc. announced that they had sent a letter to FDA Commissioner, Dr. Margaret Hamburg, indicating that they found that all of 13 samples of Merck & Company’s HPV 4 Quadrivalent vaccine, Gardasil, were contaminated with recombinant HPV DNA.  The samples were taken from lots destined to be marketed in the United States, France, Spain, Australia, Poland and New Zealand.

Medical professionals had requested that SANE Vax Inc help find out if Gardasil vaccines had residual recombinant HPV DNA.  They were curious about this because some have suspected that recombinant DNA, if it was in the vaccine, may have triggered some autoimmune-based inflammatory disorders and malignant tumors that were found among children and young women after receiving Gardasil vaccines. continue reading…

We have been focusing on news about Big Pharma and the Medical Establishment, but it’s time to get back to basics. The real goal is to cheaply, safely, effectively help people get rid of cancer.  On that note, while doing some searches online, I found some anecdotal accounts of people getting rid of their cancer and/or tumors with the use of garlic.  It looked promising.  We know that garlic is a very powerful herb. You can tell that just by its extremely pungent odor.

Garlic has a number of interesting properties.  It has been used as a food and medicine for thousands of years.  It has been found to have antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal activity.  It is also claimed that it is good for preventing heart disease. It is said to prevent certain types of cancer. Garlic cloves have been used as a treatment for infections, digestive disorders, and fungal infections.  Raw garlic is the most potent form. There’s a relatively recent article that I came across that deals with the trouble that pharmaceutical companies are having.  They are having major problems due to a number of factors.  The former pharmaceutical researcher (Johnathan Bloom, Ph.D.) that wrote this article speaks about the obvious factors that are negatively affecting the pharmaceutical industry.

He covers the phenomenon  of the large number of big money drug patents that are going to expire shortly. Just from expiring patents, he estimates that the Big Pharma industry will lose about $50 billion.

He also speaks on U.S. patent law, which allows a company to have exclusive rights to profits from the drugs that they produce. After taking in to consideration related issues, the effective length of the profit period is about 8 years. After that, generics are produced and the sales of the brand name drug plummet. In fact, he says that most drugs never reach a breakeven, since most of them take about a billion to develop.  In this type of pharmaceutical environment, the blockbuster multi-billion dollar profit drug is a critical element in the pharmaceutical drug paradigm. continue reading…

Although this is an orthodox chemotherapy treatment, it is substantial news, and I decided to speak about it nevertheless because of the high scrutiny under which Avastin (bevacizumab) has been subjected.  This substance already has approval for a variety of cancers, such as colon, brain, kidney, and lung cancers.

Bevacizumab (Avastin) works by blocking angiogenesis (i.e., the growth of new blood vessels that enable tumors to grow).  It is a humanized monoclonal antibody that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). It was the first angiogenesis inhibitor available in the United States for clinical applications.  It received its first approval for cancer treatment in 2004 when used in combination with standard chemotherapy for metastatic colon cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. continue reading…

A device that uses electricity to kill brain tumors, called the NovoTTF, has just been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.  The device is approved for brain cancer patients suffering from malignant tumors called glioblastoma multiforme. Just when you thought they were sleeping, now the FDA is reported to be prohibiting small pharmacies from manufacturing or distributing injectable vitamin C.  This is regardless of the fact that vitamin C is a powerful healing substance that is great for a lot of health conditions.
